Interesting and rare monkey automaton, modelled with the monkey seated on a chair in the centre of a Victorian drawing room, his three cornered hat and violin case lying at his feet, with a music stand in front of him, the room is housed in a glazed fronted case, which is mounted upon a mahogany base with boxwood borders; operated by a hand crank winding handle at the rear of the case with tune change mechanism situated at the side, the sixteen note reed organ playing six airs; when the handle is cranked the monkey musician plays the violin, moves his head and makes various facial expressions, 25.25″ high
